You&#8217;ll need to find it in the next step.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>You might get asked to authorise the script. You&#8217;ll need to do this before you&#8217;ll be able to run it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"access-denied\">Access denied\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In some cases, Google may ask you to do authorise the script several times, so if you find that you&#8217;re unable to run the script, that&#8217;s probably the reason. Look around for a yellow bar or a pop up asking you to authorise and then do it again.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Once the script is authorised, click \u003Cstrong>Run\u003C\u002Fstrong> in the bottom right corner of the script editor. This name is case-sensitive so choose wisely. For the sake of this tutorial, let&#8217;s assume that you went for &#8220;LocationData&#8221;.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Unfortunately, Google can&#8217;t yet match the location data for every tiny town on Earth and may throw up an error for the locations that it can&#8217;t find. As you can see from the preview above, this code has been replaced with &#8220;Vienna&#8221; in the preview.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>This ad would show &#8220;Nottingham&#8221; for people in Nottingham, &#8220;Birmingham&#8221; for people in Birmingham and &#8220;London&#8221; for people in London &#8211; all via the exact same ad.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It&#8217;s pretty cool, right?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>If you named your location data something other than &#8220;LocationData&#8221;, however, you need to replace &#8220;LocationData&#8221; above with the name of your ad customiser feed. For example, if you called your feed &#8220;Cities&#8221;, you would add \u003Cstrong>{=Cities.Location}\u003C\u002Fstrong> to your ads instead.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"set-default-text-in-the-ad-customisers\">Set default text in the ad customisers\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It also possible to add default text too. If you want to show a default location, e.g. &#8220;UK&#8221;, when you don&#8217;t have the user&#8217;s location in your business data yet, add a colon and then the default text after &#8220;Location&#8221; in the ad customiser. For example, \u003Cstrong>{=LocationData.Location:UK}\u003C\u002Fstrong>. There&#8217;s no need for speech marks.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>That means that if someone from a town or city that you haven&#8217;t previously advertised to triggers your ads, they&#8217;ll see &#8220;UK&#8221; in place of their location.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;ve added &#8220;UK&#8221; as your default text and one of the 1,841 people living in St. Davids in Wales searches for something related to your business, triggering your ad to show to them. If you don&#8217;t have St. Davids in your business data, your ad would show the default text &#8220;UK&#8221;. However, since you&#8217;ve scheduled the script above to run daily, &#8220;St. Davids&#8221; would be added to your business data within 24 hours. Following that, if that person or anyone else from St. Davids triggered one of your ads in the future, the ad would say &#8220;St. Davids&#8221; instead.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It can be much quicker to add the ad customisers \u003Cem>en masse\u003C\u002Fem> in Google Ads Editor, if you&#8217;re familiar with it.
