So far, however, feedback has been helpful in improving the system. First, check for any changes in your organic traffic and rankings over the course of September to see if you’ve been affected. In a Search On livestream event at the end of September, Google announced that \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fblog.google\u002Fproducts\u002Fsearch\u002Fhow-ai-making-information-more-useful\u002F\">MUM’s image search capabilities will soon be deployed via Google Lens\u003C\u002Fa>.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>As part of the announcement, Google’s Senior Vice President provided several examples showing how the new technology could be applied in search:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\u003Cdiv class=\"wp-block-image\">\n\u003Cfigure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\">\u003Cimg loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fimages.impression.co.uk\u002F2021\u002F10\u002Fshirt_1080x1080-1024x1024-1-1024x1000.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11715\" style=\"width:501px;height:489px\"\u002F>\u003C\u002Ffigure>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\n\n\u003Cp>Here, a user is able to search using an image of a shirt and find other articles of clothing that share the same pattern (in this case, socks).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>With the new point-and-ask mode, Google Lens will also enable users to find out more information about something (e.g. a particular component on a bike) without knowing what it’s called:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\u003Cdiv class=\"wp-block-image\">\n\u003Cfigure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\">\u003Cimg loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" src=\"\u002Fapp\u002Fuploads\u002F2021\u002F12\u002Fbike-google-lens-search-example.gif\" alt=\"gif showing usage of Google Lens ability to take a picture and ask follow up questions.\" class=\"wp-image-13419\" style=\"width:501px;height:489px\"\u002F>\u003C\u002Ffigure>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\n\n\u003Cp>This new update is scheduled to roll out in early 2022, although no exact date has been set.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-does-this-mean-for-me\">What does this mean for me?\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>When MUM is eventually rolled out within Google Lens, it’ll open up opportunities for users to search in new and exciting ways. Based on the examples we’ve seen so far, the update could increase the discoverability of some ecommerce sites by enabling users to find pages and products on Google without the need to put searches into words.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>There’s no way of knowing how many users will adopt these new search functionalities, but the implications for your site can only be positive.
