Firstly, that’s unlikely to go down well with your boss who’s looking to save money during the recession, and secondly, there are much wiser things that you can do within your existing PPC budget right now.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Here&#8217;s a summary of what&#8217;s been happening so far in 2020, what you can expect over the coming months, and actionable steps to keep your PPC account thriving throughout this turbulent time.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"monitor-consumer-spending-habits\">Monitor consumer spending habits\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>With more people staying at home, we&#8217;ve already seen consumer trends start to adjust.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In China, mobile phone usage rose by 19.7% from the start of early January to mid-February when workers were quarantined. However, in a fast-paced PPC landscape like the one we&#8217;re currently seeing, for the time being, it&#8217;s probably a smart idea to ignore any &#8220;Bids and budgets&#8221; recommendations which will result in you increasing your spend.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The vast majority of recommendations in the following categories, however, could improve the performance of your account without necessarily increasing how much you&#8217;re spending:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Ads and extensions\u003C\u002Fstrong> &#8211; suggestions to maximise the performance of your ads\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Keywords and targeting\u003C\u002Fstrong> &#8211; various ways to reach more people who might be interested in what your business has to offer\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Repairs\u003C\u002Fstrong> &#8211; simple fixes for issues in your account\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Ad suggestions\u003C\u002Fstrong> &#8211; variations of your existing Search ads that may improve click-through rates\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Proposed changes\u003C\u002Fstrong> &#8211; campaign drafts and experiment suggestions to boost your campaign performance\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cp>If any of these recommendations make sense for your account, you can apply them quickly and easily from the Recommendations tab.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"dismissing-recommendations\">Dismissing recommendations\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Recommendations that you don&#8217;t want to follow can be easily dismissed. This is a solid list that will stop your ads from showing for anything related to the recent disease outbreak which is currently all over the news.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>For a more general, categorised list, few will beat \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.webmechanix.com\u002Fnegative-keyword-list\">Chris Mechanic&#8217;s 2,000 word+ selection.\u003C\u002Fa> It has everything from curse words to B2B-specific keywords and even a specific list to weed out job seekers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Simply add any irrelevant words or phrases to your negative keyword list, apply the list to the campaigns in your account and your ads won&#8217;t show for any searches containing these words.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"placement-exclusion-lists\">Placement exclusion lists\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>As far as Display placements go, you can stop your display ads from displaying on news websites by creating a Placement Exclusion List.
