The idea of the data layer is paired closely with the concept of tag management — something which many online marketers will already be familiar with. A tag management system allows marketers to add scripts through a visual interface to websites without the need for developer input every time. In larger organisations, this saves a lot of time. Most commonly, these tools are used for integrating with website analytics packages, such as Google Analytics, and advertising platforms, however, they can be used for a number of solutions.
