You’re able to import every piece of product data that you require, so long as the spreadsheet is setup correctly and you have already done the work on the website to set up your configuration, categories and attribute sets. Magento have provided \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.magentocommerce.com\u002Fknowledge-base\u002Fentry\u002Fworking-with-product-csv-files\">detailed instruction on this page\u003C\u002Fa> for users looking to get started with importing products into Magento. The problem appears when it comes to uploading images. Various sources online (plus our experience!) indicate issues around images appearing exclusively on the store view, or the admin panel, or not at all. We’re assuming you’ve already moved your files via FTP to the \u003Ccode>media\u002Fimport\u003C\u002Fcode> directory before getting started. If you have got this far and want to pursue this method, it’s worth checking the following;\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Caches are flushed and disabled – this is standard practise for a \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.magentocommerce.com\u002Fwiki\u002Fmodules_reference\u002Fenglish\u002Fmage_adminhtml\u002Fsystem_cache\u002Findex\">development environment\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Indexes are \u003Ca rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.magentocommerce.com\u002Fknowledge-base\u002Fentry\u002Fee113-indexing\">refreshed\u003C\u002Fa> to ensure correct database information is shown on the store view\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>You are referencing relative URLs from media\u002Fimport in your file name, i.e. \u003Ccode>media\u002Fimport\u002Fexample.jpg\u003C\u002Fcode> should be recorded on the spreadsheet as \u003Ccode>\u002Fexample.jpg\u003C\u002Fcode>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>The products you are checking in the store view are visible in that view\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cp>If you find yourself constantly on Magento’s and Stack Overflow’s website, then it may be time to move on to a different solution.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"dataflow\">Uploading product images via the Magento Dataflow\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Traditionally, the upload document would be extremely large with different columns for attributes, and images would be tagged on the end. In this method, keep everything the same, but do not add images to the first spreadsheet; instead, create a new one that contains the product’s SKU and image location. Magento allows each product to have a number of images, at different sizes – standard, ‘small’ and ‘thumbnail’. Each of these images may also have a label – some themes use this to help with on-page \u003Ca title=\"Search engine optimisation\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\u002Fseo\u002F\">SEO\u003C\u002Fa>, but it’s also useful for managing images as your store grows.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Putting this all together in to your new spreadsheet, you should have the following headings:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Ccode>sku, image, image_label, small_image, small_image_label, thumbnail, thumbnail_label\u003C\u002Fcode>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The next step is to set up your profile within Magento. Navigate to System > Import\u002FExport > Dataflow – Profiles. There will be default profiles already set up, but go ahead and create a new profile from the + Add New Profile button in the top right. You should see the following screen. This will pair your file columns with the database rows within Magento.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>sku <–> sku\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>image <–> image\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>image_label <–> image_label\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>small_image <–> small_image\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>small_image_label <–> small_image_label\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>thumbnail <–> thumbnail\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>thumbnail_label <–> thumbnail_label\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cp>We’ve opted to use XML files rather than CSV so we don’t need to worry about escaping fields that contain special characters or commas. We had some difficulty initially when using CSV’s, so if you’re experiencing the same, opt for XML. If you’re more comfortable with CSV files, then change that one setting and adjust the two options that appear beneath it. I.e. If you’re using Yoast’s excellent plugin, the line above would actually be this;\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Ccode>__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'category', 'action', 'label', value); \u002F\u002F where value is a number.\u003C\u002Fcode>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Of these, the label and value attributes are optional, but sometimes useful if you are tracking goal values – the value you pass into this event will be used in your reporting.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>To translate this into WPCF7 events, we’ll need to wrap this in the ready-provided hook we discussed earlier. The end result looks something like this – though note I have removed the optional values for our tracking.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Ccode>on_sent_ok: \"ga('send', 'event', 'category', 'action');\"\u003C\u002Fcode>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Be careful to note the usage of single and double quotes, otherwise, you may run into unexpected issues. We’re using events in this example, but you could easily change out the Analytics code above to fire page views instead (for instance you might open a thank you page in a pop-up or something similar).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Once ‘event’ has been selected from this step, move on to the next step to set up your event conditions.
